Alex Orange, a 17-year-old football player from West Charlotte, NC, was known for looking out for others. In 1989, he stepped between his classmates and armed intruders at a party — and lost his life trying to keep the peace.
His classmates returned to school and vowed to work for change in his honor — forming Students Against Violence Everywhere.
In 2017, SAVE joined forces with Sandy Hook Promise to form the SAVE Promise Club, now the largest student-led violence prevention movement in the country — and the reason clubs like ours exist in Fort Wayne today.
